Functions | Reporting directly to the Boulder Chamber President & CEO, the Boulder Chamber Economic Council Executive Director / Vice President of Economic Impact Programs leads the Boulder Chamber programming that helps shape the economic environment for the Boulder region. This position also serves as a strategic partner with the President & CEO in achieving the Boulder Chamber’s external business relationships and revenue generation goals. The Boulder Chamber Economic Council (BCEC) - consisting of roughly 60 executive-level business leaders - provides the key consultation and guiding for the Boulder Chamber’s economic vitality programming. In conjunction with the Economic Vitality team and in collaboration with other Boulder Chamber functions, the BCEC Executive Director / Vice President of Economic Impact Programs is responsible for leadership and management of this economic development organization, including investor recruitment and retention. The Boulder Chamber instituted Boulder Together, a program for tackling the greatest challenges to Boulder’s economic vitality and resilience, as identified by Boulder regional business and community leaders. Given the broad scope of Boulder Together goals, management of this program entails coordination of many Boulder Chamber departments, including Policy Programs, Marketing and Communications, Transportation, Member Relations and Operations. The BCEC Executive Director / Vice President of Economic Impact Programs has chief responsibility for this management oversight and investor recruitment/ retention for the Boulder Together program. The BCEC Executive Director / Vice President of Economic Impact Programs has other duties associated with the Boulder Chamber’s economic vitality goals, programs and relationships, as detailed below. In general, this position calls for strategic collaboration with the Boulder Chamber President & CEO and the Associate Vice President of Economic Vitality, as well as other external partners and stakeholders, in helping to support the vitality and resilience of the Boulder regional economy. |

Economic Development Policy Advocacy In collaboration with the Boulder Chamber’s Policy Programs team, and where appropriate, in collaboration with other aligned partners, track and advocate on public policy issues that impact Boulder’s economic vitality interests, including local, state and national policy considerations. Public Communications In collaboration with the Boulder Chamber’s Communications team and in coordination with the Associate Vice President of Economic Vitality, serve as a spokesperson on behalf of Boulder’s economic interests with the media and at local, state and national forums, including the production of public presentations and written editorial columns. Educational Events and Forums
Innovation Support Develop and administer entrepreneur support initiatives and programs that sustain Boulder’s position as a leading center for innovation and entrepreneurship. Film Commission Oversight
Financial Management and Revenue Development
Staff Team Management Manage the Economic Vitality Programming staff and consultant team. Other duties as assigned |
Experience |

Skills and Abilities | Economic Development – Expertise and a track-record of experience in managing economic development programs and deep knowledge of factors impacting economic vitality. Knowledge of local and regional environment – Understanding of the City of Boulder and Boulder County business market and political landscape, as well as the key regional partners and factors that impact Boulder’s economy. Fundraising – Demonstrated skill in recruitment and retention of investors, sponsors, and support contracts to meet budget goals. Grant Writing and Reporting – Ability to write successful grant applications, track grant deliverables and deliver grant reporting requirements. Public Speaking and Presentation – Excellent written, phone and verbal communication abilities that command audience respect as a content authority. Strategic Planning, Work Plan Development and Budgeting – Experience in developing strategic plans, annual work plans and budgets for organization programs and operations, along with demonstrated skills in executing on both long-term strategic goals through an annual work plan and budget. Financial Management – Knowledge and skills in management of annual budget, including monitoring and support of all invoicing and payments in alignment with organization financial policies. Business Development – Proven ability to form and nurture strategic programmatic and revenue growth opportunities with partner organizations. Project Management – Experience managing priorities, processes, contracts, timelines, and task deliverables across a variety of overlapping projects. Team Management – Ability to oversee the work, intra and inter team dynamics and communications, and career development for department team, including volunteers, interns, contractors, and virtual team members. Customer Service – Demonstrated high level engagement, empathy, problem-solving and communication skills that facilitate excellent external stakeholder experience and promote a collaborative work environment. Organization and Multi-tasking - Be able to organize in a thorough and detail-oriented way to carry out various tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines. Technological Proficiency – Knowledge of and comfort with technology including CRM platforms, websites, social media tools, and video engagement systems. Compensation | $105,000 - $125,000 plus bonus opportunity – dependent on experience |
